_Children learn various sporting skills as part of the sports curriculum,
Football, Soccer, Hurling, Uni-Hoc, Rugby, Basketball A All efforts are made to provide a wide range of sports during and after school which include the following, Gaelic Football, hurling, basketball, tag rugby, volleyball, uni-hoc and athletics. Múinteoirí Leonard and Malachaí are in charge of Gaelic Football and Hurling and Múinteoir Aoife takes charge of Basketball and Athletics. In general, tag-rugby, basketball and hurling are done in the first term and the other sports after Christmas. Due to the growth and development of the school , it is our aim that our school sports teams will participate in local sporting events and inter school matches organised by Cumann na mBunscoil/Sciath na Scol. Swimming Swimming lessons are provided to all children from 2nd class upwards during the first term. Much help in the area of training and organisation of the swimming lessons is provided by Nora Irwin. Athletics Children are prepared to take part in the Cork City Sports at Páirc Uí Chaoímh annually. Individual sprint events as well as team relay events are part of the programme. |
